SIA’s mission is to protect the security and the interests of the Republic of Bulgaria
Our mission is to counter external threats against the constitutionally established order, the security and the well-being of the citizens of the Republic of Bulgaria. We support our state leadership in the implementation of national priorities through acquiring intelligence about foreign countries, organizations, individuals and legal entities that represent either a potential, or a real threat to our homeland and to the Bulgarian people.
The State Intelligence Agency (SIA) is a security service, directly subordinated to the Council of Ministers. The Agency implements tasks that are assigned to it by the Prime Minister and the President of the country, in coordination with the Prime Minister. The Agency does not perform tasks of internal political nature.
SIA provides identical, in terms of its volume and content, intelligence information to the Chairperson of the National Assembly, the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Prime Minister and the Ministers, and also to other state authorities in compliance with their competencies.
Our Agency performs a broad spectrum of tasks, directed towards acquiring, analysing and presenting to our users intelligence information necessary for identification and prevention of risks and threats to the security of the Republic of Bulgaria.
At the same time, the Agency performs its commitments as part of the intelligence communities of the European Union (EU) and NATO.
